Tyler served in the US Navy with EOD Mobile Unit One out of San Diego, working as a diver and marine mammal handler. His unit trained dolphins to detect underwater explosive ordnance, working in small platoons where operations depended on precise preparation and clear communication.
After the Navy, Tyler earned a degree in Applied Design at San Diego State and went on to manage a production pottery studio in San Diego. Running a studio at scale taught him a different version of the same lesson from EOD: getting quality work made and delivered on time is a discipline, not an accident. It requires systems, standards, and people who care about the details enough to hold the line when nobody's watching.
A licensed Property and Casualty producer, Tyler founded Underwrite Media Group to bring that discipline to commercial insurance. Commercial insurance is an industry where risk is the entire product, but where the communication around risk is often the weakest part of the deal. Brokers do sophisticated work and lose accounts to bad first impressions. Carriers make decisions based on submissions that don't reflect the actual quality of the risk in front of them. Clients pay premium prices and never see the full picture of what their broker is doing on their behalf.
UMG builds the deliverables that fix that gap. Every prospect page, underwriting submission, stewardship report, and industry campaign is built to hold up to the same standard Tyler learned in a small platoon: prepared, clear, and worthy of the people relying on it.
